The Challenge

Almost 90 crore Indians live in rural areas. Yet this vast community remains ignored.

While urban centres thrive and stock markets surge, millions in rural India struggle with poverty and lack access to fundamental resources—education, technology, and infrastructure.

For India to truly progress, bridging these inequities is not a choice — it’s a necessity.

Founded in 2014, Rukmani Trust is a non-profit organization led by professionals from diverse backgrounds. Our focus is to bridge the rural-urban digital divide, ensuring rural girls and rural communities gain equal opportunities to unlock their full potential.

We achieve this by collaborating with:

Digital Daan

Closing the digital divide

India's rapid digital transformation has widened socio-economic disparities. Girl students from low-income backgrounds remain the most affected. To bridge this gap, Rukmani Trust launched Digital Daan— a movement encouraging people to donate old but functional digital devices.

Digital Badges

Training teachers for a digital future

As classrooms across India rapidly adopt technology, government school teachers often find themselves struggling to keep pace. To bridge this gap, Rukmani Trust—in collaboration with TISS and Tata Trusts—has funded the innovative Digital Badge Course, a professional development programme designed to equip teachers for a technology-enabled future.

Through this programme, teachers receive hands-on training in:

New-age teaching techniques grounded in real classroom practice
Interactive and engaging learning strategies that improve student participation
Integrating technology meaningfully into everyday lessons
