Jiban Jatra
Empowering Rural Students Through Mentorship and Guidance
Across rural India, thousands of young students stand at a defining moment—curious about the world, eager to choose the right path, and searching for voices they can trust. Jiban Jatra, an initiative by Rukmani Trust, was created to meet this moment with empathy, clarity, and possibility.
Every fortnight, Jiban Jatra brings a 1-hour inspirational live show to students and their parents through Zoom and Facebook. What makes it special is its accessibility:
- Hosted entirely in the local language of each state
- Designed for students from Class 8 onwards and their parents
- Featuring role models who have excelled in their fields, speak the local language, and share real experiences, struggles, and learnings
These conversations help rural students understand career pathways, build confidence, and envision a future shaped by informed choices.
To deepen its reach, Rukmani Trust has partnered with Gold Heart Foundation in Chennai, Gramya Vikash Mancha in Assam, Nehru Yuva Sangathan, and the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission. Together, we are ensuring that guidance and mentorship reach students in remote locations.
In 2023, Jiban Jatra mentored children across remote districts in Assam.
In 2024, with the aim of expanding this effort across India, the initiative grew to Chennai through our partnership with Gold Heart Foundation.
Today, Jiban Jatra stands as a growing movement—one that brings relatable voices, real stories, and meaningful guidance to young students across rural India.
